C.S.W.C Lecture Series

C.S.W.C seeks to substantially contribute to emerging and pertinent discourses around politics and society by periodically organising lectures around relevant themes. One of the purposes behind these lectures is to help build a positive intellectual disposition among the youth. The lecture series has hosted a number of eminent speakers including Professor Apurba Kumar Barua, former H.O.D, Department of Political Science, N.E.H.U who spoke on Feminism, Modernity and Westernization and Dr.Nani Gopal Mahanta, M.A ( J.N.U, U.C Berkeley), H.O.D, Department of Political Science, Gauhati University  who spoke on Contemporary Media and the Declining Status of Women, among others.

The C.S.W.C Golap Borbora Memorial Lecture is also organised under the rubric of this lecture series. Dr. Udayon Misra, retired Professor of Dibrugarh University delivered the 2018 edition of the lecture. Dr. Misra’s lecture was on the topic Challenges to Democracy in India :Some Reflections.

The 2019 C.S.W.C Golap Borbora Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr.Anupama Roy on the topic Citizen /Outsider : Law Citizenship and Belonging . Dr. Roy is currently teaching at the Center for Political Studies, New Delhi.
